Creative Thinker: Steve Jobs

My first knowledge of an Apple computer came as a young, inexperienced college student. As a communication/graphic design student, my adaptation to this strange but wonderful new platform was swift. As I adapted, I also learned more about the Apple company and its innovative founder.

Jobs’ death is truly a loss. As a designer, I love the simple, clean, thoughtfully designed products he pioneered. I appreciate the Apple design details…from the packaging and marketing to the product itself. This quote by Steve Jobs sums up the Apple brand perfectly:

“In most people’s vocabularies, design means veneer. It’s interior decorating. It’s the fabric of the curtains of the sofa. But to me, nothing could be further from the meaning of design. Design is the fundamental soul of a human-made creation that ends up expressing itself in successive outer layers of the product or service.”

Even though Jobs is no longer here, his creativity and unique, innovative perspective will continue to inspire many. My prayer is that his family will find comfort in the Lord.
