Logo Design…Giving your Small Business a Mark
It’s been a number of years now, but I fondly remember my Graphic Design classes for my minor back in college. It was a lot of work and I spent hours in the computer lab learning how to use the Adobe programs (and Macromedia Freehand!). We also spent a lot of time learning hand skills such as using an Xacto knife and working with a t-square and drawing table. True, my classes weren’t specifically about logo design, but I learned valuable skills that have taken me far for many years since graduation.
Logo design is about creating art with a purpose. A logo (or overall company brand) needs to visually convey the core values / principles of a business. A logo should adapt well to usage on various media and work when printed in black / white as well as in full-color. In addition, logos need to be simple without being simplistic and specific to the company without being too “trendy” or something that gets dated quickly.Anyway, all this to say…logo design is hard work and takes time to craft. If you’re looking for someone to design your small business’ logo, don’t throw something together. You’ll have to live with the design for a long time.

Logo Design Inspiration
For some ideas of good logo design, check out the Nike, Coca Cola, Apple, Amazon, Disney, Target and FedEx logos. Also check out this hilarious video below about the Papyrus font. It’s an inside joke with designers that Papyrus should NEVER be used on any well-designed graphic design project. Thus the hilarity ensues. Check it out!!
