The Domino Effect
You may never know all the impact and influence you make on the world. Really, only God is the One who knows. As a small business owner, it’s easy to become siloed and only see the work ahead that still needs to be done. There’s this project to finish, this one that needs some final tweaks and this one that I’m ready to bill for. But work, like all areas of life, is about the people. And about the difference you make in their lives and businesses. That’s especially true in a service-based business.
My job as a web designer is to help other businesses, organizations or individuals succeed. That means that I’m trying to make their jobs easier and to make them effective. To help them influence others. So, actually, instead of helping only the client, I’m really sortof helping those people too. By doing a good job, I help the client help others.
It’s a big responsibility. But it’s also really cool to think about the domino effect of one person helping another, who helps others (and so on). When you get stressed out sometime, take a minute to reevaluate and thank God for the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life / work / etc today!
