The best handiwork of all
Yesterday, just before the sun said goodbye to the day and slid out of view, I braved the cold and some pretty hefty snowdrifts(!!) to take these pictures. The location for the pictures is from a beautiful lake near our home.
To me, it’s pretty evident to see the hands of a Master Designer at work. Why? Just take a look at the sunset and at the intricate patterns formed on the surface of the frozen lake…it’s truly wonderful.
As a designer, the book of Job is one of my favorites, especially the long passages describing God’s work in and vision for the creation of the world. I think these verses from Job 37:5—10 are particularly appropriate for this week.
“God’s voice thunders in marvelous ways;
he does great things beyond our understanding.
He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth,’
and to the rain shower, ‘Be a mighty downpour.’
So that everyone he has made may know his work,
he stops all people from their labor.
The animals take cover;
they remain in their dens.
The tempest comes out from its chamber,
the cold from the driving winds.
The breath of God produces ice,
and the broad waters become frozen.”
