Taking chances, having fun
“The only time you run out of chances is when you stop taking them.”
— Patti LaBelle
This quote has been particularly relevant for me this past month. Life has been incredibly busy…and I’ve got so many things to share with y’all! So, without further ado, here is one of the highlights from the last several weeks.
Last month, I took the chance to travel to Kansas City and spend several days learning from and enjoying time with other designers/developers at the D2W Conference. What a great time it was! Basically, the conference was divided into three groups…designers, developers and mobile designers…with sessions focused on each of these areas of expertise. I’m essentially a combination of all three, so it was fun to mingle with professionals from each group.
As far as what I learned from the conference, I realized just how much I love how my job ties into psychology. Also, I saw the importance of a designer’s job in thinking about the way an end user will experience a designed website/object. Two of my favorite sessions were given by Dave Hogue and Val Head and were about “Understanding Complexity, Designing for Simplicity” and about creating motion with CSS3 and Javascript, respectively.
